Faith Hill Sings Duet With Aretha Franklin

Faith Hill has recorded a duet with one of her heroes, Aretha Franklin, for
Franklin's upcoming album, Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love. Franklin
told
Billboard that Hill "was fabulous, just fabulous. She's a very nice lady."
While Franklin recorded the album in Detroit, Hill recorded her parts
separately,
according to the story. Franklin will release the album in early 2007 on her
own label. Other guests on the project include gospel music great Shirley
Caesar.
Blake Shelton to Release New CD on March 27

Blake Shelton will release his new Warner Bros. album, Pure BS, on March 27.
The project includes his new single, "Don't Make Me," and offers the work
of three producers -- Bobby Braddock, Brent Rowan and Paul Worley. John
Anderson and George Jones sing on "The Last Country Song," which Shelton
co-wrote
with Braddock and Michael Kosser. The album also includes a cover of Chris
Knight's "It Ain't Easy Being Me." Shelton will serve as a judge on
Nashville
Star in early 2007.
Steve Azar to Continue Touring With Bob Seger

Steve Azar has extended his tour with Bob Seger through early 2007, opening
16 shows for Seger through Feb. 12. Azar opened a series of Seger's shows in
November and will perform with him in Detroit on Thursday (Dec. 28) and
Saturday (Dec. 30). His first 2007 date with Seger is in Orlando, Fla., on
Jan.
6. Azar is expected to release a new album, Indianola, in early 2007. His
latest music video, "You Don't Know a Thing," features golfer John Daly.
Azar
is best known for his 2001 hit, "I Don't Have to Be Me ('Til Monday)."
Famed Songwriter Dennis Linde Dies

Songwriter Dennis Linde, 63, whose credits include Elvis Presley's "Burning
Love," Garth Brooks' "Callin' Baton Rouge" and the Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye
Earl,"
died Friday (Dec. 22) at a Nashville hospital after battling idiopathic
pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease. A native of Abilene, Texas, Linde's
songwriting
success began in the early '70s after Roger Miller recorded "Tom Green
County Fair" and Roy Drusky scored a Top 10 hit with "Long Long Texas Road."
Linde
also wrote hits for Mark Chesnutt ("Bubba Shot the Jukebox," "It Sure Is
Monday"), Joe Diffie ("John Deere Green"), Alan Jackson ("The Talkin' Song
Repair
Blues"), Sammy Kershaw ("Queen of My Double Wide Trailer"), Eddy Raven ("In
a Letter to You"), Shenandoah ("Janie Baker's Love Slave") and Don Williams
("Then It's Love," "Walkin' a Broken Heart"). A reclusive figure who rarely
attended awards ceremonies or other music industry events, he was elected to
the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001 and was named songwriter of
the year by the Nashville Songwriters Association in 1993 and BMI in 1994.
As
a recording artist in the '70s, Linde released albums on the Intrepid,
Elektra, Asylum and Monument labels.
