Hall of Fame Offering Rare Ray Price Tracks Fri. February 02.2007 5:46 PM EST
A collection of 13 rare recordings Ray Price made for the U.S. Armed Forces Radio Service will be released by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as digital downloads on April 3. Released in conjunction with Vault Alliance, a digital media company, Invitation to the Blues: Live Recordings, 1957-1963 will be available exclusively at iTunes. The collection features several of Price's Top 10 hits, including "City Lights" and "Curtain in the Window," along with Moon Mullican's "I'll Sail My Ship Alone" and Hank Williams' "Take These Chains From My Heart." The live version of "Invitation to the Blues" features harmony vocals by its writer, Roger Miller, who was a member of Price's band, the Cherokee Cowboys. Price's latest project, Last of the Breed, a collaboration with fellow Country Music Hall of Fame members Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, will be released March 20 by Lost Highway Records. Alabama Releasing Another Inspirational CD Fri. February 02.2007 5:46 PM EST Alabama will release a second album of gospel music on March 27 on RCA Records. Songs of Inspiration Volume II includes traditional hymns and standards such "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Down by the Riverside" and "The Star-Spangled Banner," plus two original songs. The Del McCoury Band and Riders in the Sky also appear on the album. The first volume, Songs of Inspiration, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country chart last year. Sara Evans Will Sing for Nashville Runners Fri. February 02.2007 5:46 PM EST Sara Evans will headline a concert following the Country Music Marathon and Half-Marathon on April 28 in Nashville. Although the concert is aimed at athletes participating in the marathon, tickets are also available to the public. More than 25,000 runners are expected to compete, with 100,000 spectators along the course. In addition, 50 bands perform that morning along the marathon route. Jason Aldean's New Single Titled "Johnny Cash" Fri. February 02.2007 5:46 PM EST Jason Aldean released a new single, "Johnny Cash," to country radio this week. It's the first release from a new album planned for the second quarter of 2007. "This is a song I've had my eye on for a couple of years," says Aldean. "When we are recording, I always try and think about what songs will be good for our live show, and this is one of those. It rocks hard and our fans are loving it so far." Aldean joins Rascal Flatts' Me and My Gang tour on Feb. 8. His hits include "Hicktown," "Why" and "Amarillo Sky."
