Well, I was almost 22 when Ford took office. I can't sahy I agreed with
the pardon at that time or even now. I do understand that we needed to be
pulled back together and that Gerald Ford thought it was best for the country.
But I also think there were many other things going on besides Watergate
and that it was also done to cover up other crimes and things that Nixon
should and never will be held accountable for and that way more muck would
have been pulled up.
I do believe that the truth should not be swept under the rug even if it is
best for the whole country. No disrespect to President Ford, I may add,
because he was a very nice man.
I do think it cost him the 1976 election and I voted for Carter in 1976.
I have voted for Republuicans such as for Reagan in 1984 and a couple times
for John Engler in Michigan for Governor so I will vote for a Republican if
I think it is a better choice.
But yes, Ford did what he felt he had to do and I can respect it even if I
didn't agree with it.

Hi Lora,
I listened to the service last night and I will listen to the one on
Tuesday. I was just 24 when President Ford took office and I admired him
when he pardoned President Nixon. In my opinion, there was really nothing
else he could have done. I just think if he hadn't pardoned him, that it
would have torn this country apart. I don't know if I'm right or not, but
that is just my feeling.
