Kellie Pickler Gets Gold Album View Thu. January 18.2007 6:07 PM EST
While serving as a guest co-host of ABC's The View, newcomer Kellie Pickler was surprised Thursday (Jan. 18) when she was presented a plaque commemorating the gold certification of her debut album, Small Town Girl. Rosie O'Donnell, one of the show's co-hosts, made the presentation. "This is awesome," the singer said. "It reinforced that my dreams are becoming a reality. It's almost better than being in a shoe department where everything's half off!" A gold album certification is issued by the RIAA when 500,000 copies have been shipped to retailers. Pickler co-hosts The View again Friday (Jan. 19). Carrie Underwood Set for Grammy Show Thu. January 18.2007 6:07 PM EST Carrie Underwood has been added as a performer on the Grammy Awards to be held Feb. 11 in Los Angeles. She is nominated for best new artist and best country female vocal performance for "Jesus, Take the Wheel." Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris and Justin Timberlake have also been added as performers. As previously announced, the Dixie Chicks will also perform during the show, as will Beyonce, Gnarls Barkley and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Grammys will air on CBS. Martina McBride Announces Album, Tour Thu. January 18.2007 6:07 PM EST Martina McBride's new album, Waking Up Laughing, will be released April 3 on RCA Records. She produced the album and co-wrote the first single, "Anyway." She also co-wrote two other songs on the album. In addition, she has announced a tour beginning April 12 in Kansas City, Mo., which continues through mid-July. Opening acts are Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins (although Atkins is only scheduled on the tour through mid June). "I'm especially happy about being joined by Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins," McBride says. "We put a lot of thought into which artists to include on this tour, and I really feel like this show is going to be a treat for my fans from beginning to end. I can't wait to get out there on the road."
