Taylor Swift's self-titled debut album, which features the hit "Tim McGraw,"
has been certified gold for shipments of 500,000 copies. "I literally jump
up and down when I tell people," she says. "I can't help it. The support
I've gotten from my label, radio and fans is just undeniable and
unbelievable.
I didn't want to have a party for the release of the album. I wanted to wait
to celebrate something fantastic, some great accomplishment. ... I think
it's
time to have that party." Currently serving as George Strait's opening act
on his concert tour, Swift will be on the road with Brad Paisley in the
spring.

Dale Watson's New CD Inspired by Johnny Cash Cabin
Mon. January 22.2007 6:19 PM EST

Dale Watson has completed work on his forthcoming album, From the Cradle to
the Grave, which he wrote and recorded near Nashville in a cabin previously
owned by Johnny Cash and now owned by Watson's friend, actor Johnny
Knoxville. Hyena Records will release the honky-tonk singer's CD on April
24. "I got
up there and basically wrote 10 songs in three days," Watson says. "At
first, I was adamant about not writing anything even remotely reminiscent to
Johnny
Cash as I figured I'd be instantly dismissed for trying to cop his vibe, but
his presence was so strong up there that I decided, 'Why fight it? Let the
chips fall where they may and go with the feeling.'"

Johnny Cash's younger sister, Joanne Cash, will include three duets with her
late brother on a new gospel album to be released Feb. 20. They sing
together
on "Softly and Tenderly," "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning" and "When He
Comes." The album, Gospel, is Ms. Cash's 27th album release and also
includes
material from her past projects. The duets were recorded in Johnny Cash's
cabin studio in Hendersonville, Tenn. The siblings recorded the songs
approximately
a year and a-half before Johnny Cash died in 2003.
