Rascal Flatts to Appear in Super Bowl Ad Wed. January 31.2007 6:33 PM EST Rascal Flatts filmed a TV commercial for the NFL Network this past weekend in Miami. The 30-second ad, titled "Hanging With Chad," stars Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson. It will premiere during Super Bowl XLI on Sunday (Feb. 4) and also features appearances by David Beckham, Janet Reno, Martha Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, LL Cool J, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, actor Angus T. Jones (Two and a Half Men) and NFL players Reggie Bush, Edgerrin James and Warren Sapp.
Carrie Underwood Joins Hall of Famers at Grammy Event Wed. January 31.2007 6:33 PM EST Carrie Underwood will join Country Music Hall of Fame members Charley Pride and Porter Wagoner in Los Angeles for a concert billed as "The Soul of Country." Hosted by Marty Stuart, the ninth annual event sponsored by the Grammy Foundation's music preservation project will also feature appearances by Joe Nichols, LeAnn Rimes, Deana Carter, Solomon Burke, Shooter Jennings and actor Terrence Howard. The concert at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre will showcase footage from the archives of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville and is part of the activities leading up to the Grammy Awards show on Feb. 11. Howard, who received an Oscar nomination for his work in Hustle & Flow, will star as Pride in a biographical film to be shot in 2008 in Memphis. Hank Jr., Skynyrd Announce Tour Wed. January 31.2007 6:33 PM EST Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd will tour together beginning April 11 in Huntsville, Ala. With the exception of the first night, the 20-city Frynds tour will exclusively play Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets go on sale Feb. 10. Classic rock band .38 Special will open the first 10 shows, and new artist Chris Janson will open the second 10. Williams and Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform together on The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson in Miami following the Super Bowl on Sunday night (Feb. 4). Williams has just re-released a remixed single version of "A Country Boy Can Survive" to commemorate the song's 25th anniversary. Miss America Pageant Draws Younger Audience Wed. January 31.2007 6:33 PM EST The Miss America pageant drew a significantly younger audience than last year, increasing its 18- to 24-year-old audience by 257 percent. During its initial airing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday night (Jan. 29), CMT placed second in all of basic cable in that age demographic. The premiere of the pageant averaged 2.4 million viewers, making it CMT's most-watched telecast since last year's airing. Cumulatively, the pageant reached 7.2 million total viewers in its two airings on Monday night.
