Shepherd's Pie- Sylvia's Recipe

Source: Carepages

When I was being treated for breast cancer, my neighbors, church family and
friends all provided wonderful meals each time I was getting a chemotherapy

treatment. All the meals were wonderful, but there are two that stood out that
I now have the recipes for. I make these now and also provide them to friends

who are in need.

Serves 6 - 8

3 lb ground sirloin

1 lg onion chopped fine

5-6 carrots grated

Salt & pepper

2 tbsp Bisto® Gravy mix, mixed with 1/2 C cold water*

Brown ground sirloin, pour off fat. Add onions, carrot, salt & pepper. Sauté 15
min; stir occasionally.

Add near boiling water, about 2 c. Add gravy & cold water mixture. Cover with
lid & simmer 30 min, stirring. This can be made the night before.

Make 3-5 lb mashed potatoes:

5 lb potatoes

1 stick butter

Salt & pepper

8 oz sour cream

4 oz cream cheese (you can use fat free on both)

Place ground sirloin mixture in baking dish, scoop mashed potatoes on top,
spread out. Bake at 350°F 40 min.

*On the Bisto® mix-you can also use a packaged gravy mix as a substitute.
