Texas-Style Chili
Source: old newspaper clipping 3 lb ground chuck 1 lb hot bulk sausage 3 med onions, chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 c chili powder 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 1 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp ground oregano 1 tsp salt 2 (28-oz) can whole tomatoes, undrained, chopped 3 (16-oz) can kidney beans, drained Combine ground chuck, sausage, onion & garlic in Dutch oven; cook until meat is browned, stirring to crumble meat. Drain off pan dripping. Stir in next 6 ingredients. Cover & simmer 1 hr; stirring occasionally. Add beans & simmer an additional 20 min. about 5 quarts "The happiest people don't have the best of everything.
