Keeping Fruit Salad Fresh
One problem with making fruit salad ahead of time is that fruit left to soak in 
its own juice can turn soggy and washed out. A simple way to keep cut-up fruit 
or fruit salad fresh is to place a saucer or pie plate upside down in the 
bottom of the bowl before adding the fruit. The fruit sits on top of the 
inverted dish and the juice collects underneath it.
