Chocolate Fantasy Nut Bars

1 18-oz. pkg. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. vegetable oil
1 egg
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. (6-oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
1 14-oz. can Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Dash salt

        Preheat oven to dg350.

        With mixer on medium speed, beat cake mix, oil and egg in large bowl
until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Set aside 1 cup crum mixture. Firmly
press remaining crumb mixture on bottom of greased 13- by 9-inch
baking pan.

        In small saucepan, melt chips with Eagle Brand, vanilla and salt.
Pour evenly over prepared crust. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture
evenly over top. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool and
cut into bars. Drizzle with a tube of decorative icing if desired.
Store loosely covered at room temperature.

        Yield 24-36 bars.
