Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies
1-1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. butter or margarine (1 stick)
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
4 oz. semisweet chocolate
1-1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
Peanut butter swirl
1 c. creamy peanut butter
1/3 c. sugar
4 tbsp butter or margarine
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
Preheat oven to dg350. Grease 13- by 9-inch metal baking pan.
Brownies: Combine flour, baking powder and salt. In 3-quart saucepan
heat butter and chocolate over low heat until melted, stirring
frequently. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in sugar. Add vanilla and
eggs. Stir until well-mixed. Stir flour mixture into chocolate mixture
until blended.
Swirl: In mediuim bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat peanut
butter, sugar, butter, flour, vanilla and egg until well-blended.
Spread 2 cups chocolate batter in pan. Top with six large dollops of
peanut butter mixture. Spoon remaining chocolate batter over and
between batter in six large dollops. With tip of knife, cut and twist
two mixtures to create swirled effect.
Bake 30-35 minutes or until tests almost clean 2 inches from edge.
Cool in pan on wire rack. When cool cut lengthwise into four strips
and each strip crosswise into six pieces.
