This is interesting.  When I was in high school all the cooking classes made 
pies for all 50 states.  I made Jeff Davis pie which they said was for 
Mississippi.  It was nothing like this one.  I new a friend who said her 
grandmother had made a Jeff Davis pie she had learned to make in probably 30's 
or maybe earlier.  This pie was more of an egg custard pie.  I will write her 
and see if she has the recipe.  I will also try to find my recipe also.  Varina 
Davis said her husband loved sour apple pie and none of these pies have that in 
them.

  2/3 cup brown sugar

  1 T. cornstarch

  1 T. melted butter

  1 pint thin cream (or half and half)

  1 tsp. vanilla

  Bake in 9" raw crust at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
