Ground Cherry Sauce

Yields: 32 servings"Cooked with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla,
ground cherries or Cape Gooseberries can be used as a sweet topping,
sauce, or as an addition to pies."
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup water
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
4 cups ground cherries, husked
DIRECTIONS:
1.Place the water, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves
in a pan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, and stir in the
cherries. Reduce heat, and simmer until cherries are transparent. Pour
into resealable freezer bags and freeze, or pour into hot jars, leaving
1/4-in. headspace. Adjust caps. Process for 15 minutes in a
boiling-water bath.
