Baked Apples

3 large baking apples, peeled and sliced 
3/4 cup sugar 
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 
1/4 cup apple cider 
1/2 cup butter or margarine 
1/2 cup walnuts or raisins 
Vanilla ice cream 

Place apples in a greased 1 quart baking dish. Combine sugar,
cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and apple cider; pour over apples. Dot with
butter. Sprinkle with nuts or raisins. Bake, uncovered, at 350
degrees for 45-60 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm over
ice cream.
