Brad Paisley Plans 2008 Dates With Rodney Atkins

Brad Paisley will extend his Bonfires & Amplifiers into early 2008. The first
date of the new year is scheduled for Jan. 16 in Denver, and the tour will
conclude in late February. The tour includes a Feb. 15 stop in Nashville.
Opening acts include Rodney Atkins and newcomer Chuck Wicks ("Stealing
Cinderella").
So far this year, Paisley has sold 750,000 tickets. The 2007 tour will conclude
Dec. 1 in Columbus, Ohio.
Tracy Lawrence's Christmas CD Due Oct. 23

Tracy Lawrence will release his first holiday album, All Wrapped Up in
Christmas, on Oct. 23 on his own label, Rocky Comfort Records. Lawrence includes
three new songs in addition to classics like "Here Comes Santa Claus" and
"Frosty the Snowman," which were chosen by his daughters. "As much as I love
the holidays, it's hard to believe I've never recorded a Christmas album,"
Lawrence says. "I love everything about the holidays from shopping for presents
to decorating the house with my family. Christmas is huge with the Lawrence
household."
Jo Dee Messina Completes Chicago Marathon

Jo Dee Messina completed the Chicago Marathon on Sunday (Oct. 7), with a finish
time of 5:45:48. She ran the 26.2-mile race with her brother, Vincent Messina,
who completed the course in 4:52:37. Messina completed the Boston marathon in
2006 in 5 hours and 47 minutes following a knee injury halfway through the
race. The humid weather forced many runners to quit before finishing the race.
One runner also collapsed and died during the run.
Earl Scruggs Surprises IBMA Crowd

An appearance by banjo pioneer Earl Scruggs proved to be an unexpected
highlight at the International Bluegrass Music Association's Fan Fest that
concluded
Sunday (Oct. 7) in Nashville. Bluegrass veteran Carl Jackson introduced the
Country Music Hall of Fame member prior to Emmylou Harris' Friday night (Oct.
5) set at the Nashville Convention Center. Appearing with a band that featured
fiddler-vocalist Lizzy Long, Scruggs was in excellent form as they performed
a brief set that included his signature instrumental, "Foggy Mountain
Breakdown." Harris was accompanied by members of the band Carolina Star as she
performed
a selection of gospel and secular songs that included acoustic versions of
several of her major country hits including "One of These Days." Scruggs and
Harris appeared Sunday at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival at San
Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
Garth Brooks Sells Out Nine Concerts in Kansas City

Garth Brooks on Saturday (Oct. 6) sold out nine concerts at Kansas City's
Sprint Center, a new arena designed to seat approximately 18,000 people. Brooks
initially scheduled a Nov. 14 concert in Kansas City to thank Wal-Mart for its
efforts in marketing his music in recent years, but tickets were made available
to the public and went on sale Saturday morning. When the Nov. 14 concert sold
out immediately, tickets to the other eight performances went on sale one-by-one
until Brooks' previous obligations prevented him from adding another date. The
additional shows, taking place Nov. 5-12, sold out in just under two hours.
Brooks' new CD/DVD package, The Ultimate Hits, goes on sale Nov. 6. Brooks has
rarely performed since announcing his retirement in 2000. Elton John is
scheduled to perform at the Sprint Center's grand opening on Oct. 13.
