Holiday Chocolate Almond Bars

1-1/2 c. unsifted flour
2/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. (1-1/2 sticks) cold butter or margarine
1-1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1 14-oz. can Eagle Sweetened Condensed milk
1 egg
2 c. almonds, toasted and chopped
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp solid shortening

Preheat oven to dg350.

Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press onto
bottom of a 13- by 9-inch baking pan. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly
browned.

Melt 1 cup of baking chips with Sweetened Condensed milk. Remove from
heat. Cool slightly; beat in egg. Stir in almonds and extract. Spread
over prepared crust. Bake 25 minutes or until set. Cool.

Melt remaining 1/2 cup chips with shortening. Drizzle over bars. Chill
10 minutes or until set. Cut into bars. Store covered at room
temperature.

Yield 24 to 36 bars
