NEWS IN BRIEF Frank Callari Dies in Nashville Tue. October 30.2007 2:38 PM EDT
Prominent Nashville manager Frank Callari died in Nashville on Friday (Oct. 26). He was 55. Callari, a graduate of the Hotel Ecolier in Lausanne, Switzerland, first worked as general manager of the Hilton Inn at JFK Airport in New York City. After earning a degree in music technology from New York University, he worked in music for several years before moving to Miami, where he met and eventually managed the Mavericks. He also at various times managed Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams and Junior Brown. He also had worked as senior VP/A&R and artist development for Lost Highway Records. Tentative funeral plans are for Thursday (Nov. 1) at Christ the King church in Nashville. Marshall Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Overbrook School (his son Michael's school) or the American Diabetes Association. Josh Turner Releases New CD Tue. October 30.2007 6:08 PM EDT Josh Turner released his third album, Everything Is Fine (MCA Nashville), on Tuesday (Oct. 30). The album includes "Firecracker," collaborations with Trisha Yearwood and R&B singer Anthony Hamilton, and a cover of George Jones' "One Woman Man." Turner wrote or co-wrote seven songs on the album. ... Other new releases include Blue Rodeo's Small Miracles (TeleSoul), Gene Clark with Carla Olson's In Concert (Collector's Choice) and Levon Helm's Dirt Farmer (Vanguard). In addition, singer-songwriter Patty Griffin released a concert DVD, Live From the Artists Den (ATO). Larry the Cable Guy Releases Christmas CD, DVD Tue. October 30.2007 6:08 PM EDT Larry the Cable Guy released Christmastime in Larryland on CD and Larry the Cable Guy's Christmas Spectacular on DVD on Tuesday (Oct. 30). Guests on the album include Trace Adkins, Cowboy Troy, Paula Deen, Gladys Hardy and T.G. Sheppard. The DVD features musical guest Kid Rock, with appearances from Tony Orlando, Jim Breuer, Vicki Lawrence, Jamie Kennedy, Penn Jillette, Flavor Flav, George Wendt, George Wallace, Lisa Lampanelli, Carrot Top, Jeffrey Ross and Jay Johnston.
