Marmalade Bread

3 c. sifted flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
1 jar orange marmalade (1-lb., equivalent to 1-1/2 cupts)
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. orange juice
1/4 c. salad oil or melted shortening
1 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to dg350. Sift together dry ingredients. Reserve 1/4 cup
marmalade. Combine remaining 1-1/4 cups marmalade, egg, orange juice
and oil. Add to flour mixture. Stir until moistened. Add nuts. Pour
into greased 9- by 5-inch loaf pan. Bake about 1 hour, until tests
done. Remove from pan and place on baking sheet. Spread top with
reserved marmalade and return to oven for about 1 minute until glazed.
Cool on rack.
