Carrie Underwood Sells 527,101 Units in Debut Week

Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride sold 527,101 units in its first week of sales, 
making it the best-selling debut week of any female artist in 2007. It's
also the highest debut week ever for a country artist's second album. Digital 
sales of 44,928 mark the largest country debut in digital album chart history.
Upcoming TV appearances include The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday (Nov. 5), 
the CMA Awards on Nov. 7, Good Morning America on Nov. 12 and The Late Show
With David Letterman on Nov. 13.

CMAs Add Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley

Little Big Town will perform, and Dierks Bentley will present during the CMA 
Awards on Nov. 7. Little Big Town is nominated for group of the year and the
Horizon Award. Bentley's Long Trip Alone is up for album of the year. Emerson 
Drive will present CMA Awards in the pre-televised portion. In addition,
actors James Denton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Kate Walsh will serve as 
segment hosts for the ceremony, which will air live on ABC.

Toby Keith Joins Mel Tillis on Stage

Toby Keith joined Mel Tillis at The Stage, a honky-tonk bar in downtown 
Nashville, during a private party on Tuesday night (Oct. 30). Together, they 
reprised
"Send Me Down to Tucson" and "Coca Cola Cowboy," Tillis' hit duets with Clint 
Eastwood from the movie, Every Which Way But Loose, as well as several other
Tillis hits. Other performers included Pam Tillis, Radney Foster, Jason Michael 
Carroll, Blaine Larsen, Sarah Johns, Heidi Newfield and Trick Pony's Ira
Dean. Mel Tillis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday 
(Oct. 28).

CMA-Winning Host Fired From Austin's KVET

After 35 years on the air, Sammy Allred has been fired from the country radio 
station KVET 98.1 in Austin, Texas, allegedly for using a profanity on the
air. As part of the Sammy and Bob Show, Allred won CMA Awards as a radio 
personality in 1999 and 2006. He was also part of the group, The Geezinslaws.
A spokesperson for Clear Channel stations in Austin would not comment. Allred 
would not confirm the reason for his firing after a phone call from the Austin
American-Statesman.

Martina McBride Announces 2008 Tour Dates

Martina McBride will headline an arena tour in early 2008 with opening acts 
Jack Ingram and new band, Lady Antebellum ("Love Don't Live Here"). The tour
will begin Jan. 18 in Evansville, Ind., with 11 dates scheduled through March 
2, in Syracuse, N.Y. She performed for more than 250,000 fans in 52 cities
in 2007, making it the year's most popular tour from a solo female country 
artist.
