¾ Cup Packed Brown Sugar

1 Egg

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

½ Cup Sour Cream

1 Package (8 ounces) Pitted Dates (36) *

36 Walnut Halves

Easy Icing (recipe follows)

Colored sprinkles (optional)

Stir together flour, baking powder and soda; set aside. In

medium bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat

in egg and vanilla until blended. Stir in flour mixture

alternately with sour cream until blended. Stuff dates with

walnut halves; using 2 forks, roll each in dough until well

covered. Drop 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake in

preheated 400 degree oven 10 minutes or until golden brown

(cookies will still be soft to touch. Immediately remove to

racks. When cooled, spread with Easy Icing. Decorate with

sprinkles. (optional) Store airtight.

EASY ICING: In small bowl stir 2 tablespoons butter, melted, 1

tablespoon milk, (I use 2 tablespoons lemon juice instead of

milk), 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup confectioners sugar until

smooth.

* If your dates are chopped, just mash the sticky dates with

some of the walnuts to form a marble size ball.
