February 01.2008 5:25 PM EST Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" has become the first country track to receive RIAA certification as a double-platinum digital single for exceeding 2 million paid digital downloads. Concurrently, her recording of "Jesus, Take the Wheel" received platinum digital certification for 1 million downloads. "Before He Cheats," which spent five weeks atop the country singles chart, is nominated for best country song and overall song of the year at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Underwood will perform on the Feb. 10 awards show in Los Angeles.
Willie Nelson, Sara Evans Set for Super Bowl Pre-Game Fri. February 01.2008 5:25 PM EST Willie Nelson and Sara Evans are among those scheduled to perform Sunday (Feb. 3) during activities surrounding Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Ariz. Evans will perform a full set for VIPs during a tailgate party outside the University of Phoenix Stadium before joining Nelson during his concert to sing "Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys." The duet will be televised on the Fox network's pre-game show. Alicia Keys will perform a pre-game concert on the field, and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will sing the national anthem prior to the Fox telecast of the game. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will provide a 12-minute performance of their hits as the featured entertainment during halftime. Kickoff is at 6:17 p.m. ET ... Taking place at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, the presentation will include live performances, guest speakers and film footage representing key movements that have shaped our culture. February 01.2008 1:13 PM EST Alan Jackson taped an episode of CMT's Invitation Only series Thursday night (Jan. 31) at the Factory in Franklin, Tenn. Appearing in a living room setting before some 100 invited members of the public, Jackson sang 13 songs, chatted with the audience and answered questions from fans. Songs included such well-known Jacksonians as "Gone Country" and "Chattahoochee," as well as new tunes such as "Small Town Southern Man" and "I Still Like Bologna" from his forthcoming album, Good Time. The television special, Alan Jackson: Invitation Only will air on CMT on March 1 at 9 p.m. ET. Jackson's new CD will be released on March 4.
