Clay Walker, Radio Stations Share Humanitarian Award Honors

Clay Walker was named the Country Radio Broadcasters' artist humanitarian of
the year during Wednesday morning's (March 5) opening session at Country Radio
Seminar in Nashville. Walker was cited for his continuing work in funding
research, raising awareness and providing education for those battling multiple
sclerosis. Walker was diagnosed with MS in 1996 and is now in remission. In
2003, he formed Band Against MS, a nonprofit organization that has raised more
than $1 million for MS research. ... Also during the morning session, the CRB
honored three radio stations with its annual radio humanitarian award --

Naomi Judd Among Judges for Can You Duet

Naomi Judd, vocal coach Brett Manning and "Amazed" songwriter Aimee Mayo will
serve as the panel of judges for the new CMT series, Can You Duet. The weekly
music competition from FremantleMedia North America (the producers of American
Idol) will debut on April 14 at 10:30 p.m. In addition to critiquing each
performance and deciding who will advance to the next round and ultimately be
crowned country music's next great duo, Judd, Manning and Mayo will also
serve as mentors to the contestants.
Rodney Atkins, Ashley Gearing Perform for CRS Crowd

Rodney Atkins and newcomer Ashley Gearing performed to a room filled with radio
programmers and executives during a Wednesday (March 5) luncheon at Country
Radio Seminar in Nashville. Now a veteran with a string of hits, Atkins
punctuated his set with "Cleaning This Gun (Come on In Boy)," "Watching You" and
his breakthrough single, "If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even
Knows)." He also performed his upcoming single, "Invisibly Shaken," a track
from his current album. The 16-year-old Gearing is currently working with
producer Byron Gallimore for an album that's expected to be released later this
year. Her first single, "Out the Window," is scheduled for release in early
spring. Wednesday's CRS luncheon was sponsored by Curb Records. View photos

Josh Turner Among Tin Pan South Songwriters

Josh Turner has joined the lineup for the Tin Pan South songwriting festival
taking place April 1-5 in Nashville. Turner wrote his signature hit, "Long
Black Train." Other artists at the festival include Jessi Colter ("I'm Not
Lisa") and Rodney Crowell ("Making Memories of Us," "Please Remember Me"), as
well as Kip Winger of the band Winger, David Pack of Ambrosia, Matt Scannell of
Vertical Horizon, Mike Farris of the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies and others.
Last year, more than 350 songwriters performed at the Nashville Songwriters
Association International event.
