I cook them like I cook my pinto beans. I soak them over night then I cook them on low in a crockpot adding spices onions and bacon, ham salt pork or fatback. When cooking beans on a stove I cook them for about a hour and thirty minutes then I turn the fire down to low and be sure to add plenty of water and test for softness.
