Ricky Skaggs, Raul Malo and Jypsi Plan Earth Day Shows

Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Raul Malo, Jypsi and Los Lonely Boys are among
those scheduled to perform during Earth Day celebrations taking place across
the U.S. this weekend. Skaggs will appear Sunday (April 20) at New York's
Central Park on a bill that includes Big Head Todd & the Monsters and the Bacon
Brothers. Malo and Jypsi ("I Don't Love You Like That") will perform Saturday
(April 19) at Nashville's Centennial Park. Other artists on the Nashville
lineup include singer-songwriter Jen Foster, local duo Sam & Ruby and the
Atlanta band Five Star Iris. Los Lonely Boys and Junior Brown will perform
Sunday
in Dallas at Fair Park. Also on Sunday, the Yonder Mountain String Band and
Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart will play at San Francisco's Golden Gate
Park. Earth Day concerts are scheduled in other cities, including Chicago,
Denver, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.
Hacienda Brothers' Chris Gaffney Dies

Chris Gaffney, a co-founder of the Hacienda Brothers, died of liver cancer on
Thursday (April 17) at a hospital in Newport Beach, Calif. He was 58. One
of the most distinctive bands in Americana music, they recently completed a new
album, Arizona Motel, which will be released on June 24. Before founding
the Hacienda Brothers with guitarist Dave Gonzalez in 2005, Gaffney was a
member of Dave Alvin's Guilty Men and the Cold Hard Facts.
Hall of Fame Honors Session Guitarist Reggie Young

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will recognize session guitarist
Reggie Young with a performance and interview on May 3. Young was part of the
rockabilly explosion in the mid-1950s, Memphis' hit-producing American Studio
in the 1960s and the expansion of Nashville's recording scene in the 1970s.
His guitar work can be heard on Dobie Gray's "Drift Away," Waylon Jennings'
"Luckenbach, Texas," Willie Nelson's "Always on My Mind" and Reba McEntire's
"Little Rock," among hundreds of others.
