Dublin Dr. Pepper Cake
Posted by Emily Submitted by Belinda Starnes, Cake Club Member Recipe Courtesy of www.CakeClubRecipes.com My entire family was born and raised in Dublin, Texas; the home of the infamous "Dublin Dr. Pepper Factory," the last known bottling plant that uses cane sugar while bottling Dr. Pepper. Being an avid Dr. Pepper drinker myself, I set out to come up with a cake that uses my favorite soft drink. Not only did my family RAVE over my quick and easy creation, but it became a holiday favorite and tradition. I hope that your family will enjoy this cake as much as mine does. Ingredients: 1 pkg. German Chocolate cake mix 2/3 c. oil 1 tsp. vanilla 4 eggs 1 pkg. Vanilla instant pudding mix 1 can "Dublin Dr. Pepper" Directions: Mix all ingredients well and pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan or jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cake cool and ice with Seven Minute Frosting (see recipe below). Seven Minute Frosting... 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 egg whites 1 T. corn syrup 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 c. + 1 T. water 1 tsp. vanilla Mix well in top of double broiler. Let mixture come to a boil. Quickly beat with electric mixer for seven minutes (or until stiff), then add vanilla. Ice cake as directed.
