Little Big Town Plays to Packed House at Fan Club Party
Thu. June 05.2008 5:41 PM EDT

Little Big Town played to a packed house and sold-out fan club party Wednesday
evening (June 4) at aVenue, a music club in downtown Nashville. As group
members Kimberly Schlapman, Philip Sweet, Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook
made their way to the stage, fans cheered and even jumped up and down to get
a better look. Appropriately, the quartet immediately burst into "I'm With the
Band" and followed it with fan-favorite "A Little More You" while fans sang
along to every word. Between songs, the group answered questions submitted by
the fans prior to the party. "This is our thank you party to ya'll," Fairchild
said at one point. They played an array of their music ranging from their first
album to the newest single, "Fine Line," and other songs from their recent
album, A Place to Land. View photos from Little Big Town's fan club party.

BMI Honors Writers of George Strait's "I Saw God Today"
Thu. June 05.2008 10:29 AM EDT

The performance rights organization BMI paid tribute Wednesday (June 4) to the
three composers of "I Saw God Today," George Strait's latest -- and 56th
-- No. 1 single. "It may be the most loved song of the year," said BMI vice
president Jody Williams before handing out awards to songwriters Monty Criswell,
Wade Kirby and Rodney Clawson. Making his presentations at BMI's Nashville
headquarters, Williams also noted that the song's success is a victory for
independent
music publishers since none of the three writers is affiliated with a major
publishing company. As is BMI's tradition, Williams gave Criswell and Kirby
each an acoustic guitar to honor their achieving their first No. 1. "I Saw God"
was Clawson's third chart-topping single after achieving similar success
with Big & Rich's "Lost in This Moment" and Jason Aldean's "Why." With "I Saw
God Today," Strait has now scored more No. 1's than any other artist in any
musical genre.

Blake Shelton brought breakfast and a live performance during his fan club
party Wednesday morning (June 4) at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville.

adorning fans tapping their toes, bobbing their heads and singing in harmony
with Shelton. Fan favorites, such as "The More I Drink," "Ol' Red" and
Shelton's version of the Michael Bublé hit, "Home," were performed along with
songs
that will be appearing on his next album. Shelton's humor on stage drew
constant smiles and laughter from his crowd. The party was not complete without
a birthday surprise for Shelton. An abdominal exercise chair was revealed as a
present for the artist (who is known to dislike working out) as well as
a $10,605 check to OKVOAD (Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster)
in honor of Shelton's birthday. Fans (also known as BSers) captured photos

Hearing Delayed in Chris Cagle's Domestic Assault Charge
Wed. June 04.2008 2:26 PM EDT

A preliminary hearing on Chris Cagle's domestic assault charge has been
postponed by a Nashville judge. The continuance, a routine legal procedure, was
ordered Tuesday (June 3), the original court date for the hearing. Cagle and
his girlfriend, Jennifer Tant, were arrested May 28 at Cagle's residence
following
an argument that began at a Nashville-area bar. Cagle, who also faces trial on
a misdemeanor assault charge in Tucson, Ariz., performed Tuesday afternoon
at Nashville Shores during his annual fan club party that coincides with the
CMA Music Festival. In a statement he read at the party, Cagle cited
"exaggerated
police and media reports," noting that he accepts full responsibility for his
actions in his relationship with Tant but denies that he was intoxicated
or that alcohol was a factor in their argument.
