UPSIDE DOWN APPLE PIE   

      Prepare 2 crust pastry. Spread 4 tablespoons butter in bottom and up 
sides of 9 inch pie pans. Arrange 2/3 cup pecan halves in bottom and upsides of 
pan. Distribute 2/3 cup brown sugar over the nuts and press in place. Place 1 
layer of pastry over the brown sugar. 1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring 1/4 c. water 1/3 
c. brown sugar 1 rounded tbsp. flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. 
nutmeg 
      Combine lemon flavoring and water. Mix into apples. Combine remaining 
ingredients; add to apples. Pour into the pastry shell. Top with second layer 
of pastry. Bake 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees; bake 
30-40 minutes. Immediately invert on serving plate.
