I remember years ago my mom used to put salt in the coffee when she made
it. I remember one time about forty years ago my parents were out so she
decided to make coffee because her boyfriend at that time liked it. I
think I had a cup too. Well, she put too much salt. I don't think my mom
puts salt in there now. But in 2004 I went to a wedding which was held
at a covenant congregational church where a lot of the people who
attended were of Swedish descent. The bride got transportation for me
and the lady whose husband drove me had to go into the kitchen so I went
in there with her. The ladies were talking to me and they were making
coffee, which smelled wonderful. One of the ladies told me that they put
eggshells in with the coffee grounds and that it was a Swedish
tradition. The coffee was wonderful.

Hi Marilyn,
Yes, actually, it's a habit from the very north of Sweden. I don't know
if it's common in any other parts of the world, but since I'm Swedish
myself, I'm sure of it. I wouldn't want it, though. But I'm not a great
coffee lover.

Subject: [RecipesAndMore] dash of salt in your coffee?

I was reading a book last night and they said they put a dash of salt in
their coffee before they made it. Has anyone ever heard of that?
