Never Fail Pastry This dough may be kept in the refrigerator for 3 days or it may be frozen. 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup shortening 1 egg 1/4 cup water 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar and salt with a pastry blender. Cut the shortening in to the mixture until it resembles coarse meal. In a separate bowl beat the egg with the water and vinegar. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture. Mix until flour is completely moistened and dough can be gathered in to a ball. Chill before rolling.
