Apple Crumble Recipe 500g / 1 lb cooking Apples 150g / 6oz Granulated Sugar Topping 150g / 6oz plain Flour 75g / 3oz Butter 50 to 75g / 2 to 3oz Caster sugar
Peel, core and slice the apple into slices and put into a 1 litre or 2 pint heatproof dish in layers with granulated sugar. Mix flour in a bowl then rub in butter finely. Add sugar then toss lightly so the ingredients mix together. Sprinkle Crumble over fruit thickly and evenly then press down softly with your palm, and to smooth top use a knife Preheat the oven to 190 c or 375 f then bake for 15 minutes Reduce temperature down to 180 c or 350 f and bake for a further 45 minutes, or until the top is a nice light golden brown colour. Remove and leave to cool before serving. Serve with Double Cream, Fresh Cream, or even Custard. Can be served Hot or Cold. A single candle can illuminate an entire room.
