Honey Pear Upside Down Cake Serve this cake for Rosh Hashanah. Everyone will rave about the taste and think you spent all day making it. Rating: * * * * * Serves: 8 Prep. time: 15 minutes Cooking time: 30 to 35 minutes Topping:1 pear, (Bartlet or Anjou), peeled and thinly sliced1 tablespoon all-purpose flour2 teaspoons grated orange peel1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 cup honeyCake:1 cup all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt1/2 cup honey1 egg2 tablespoons butter or parave margarine, melted2 tablespoons fresh orange juice Arrange pear slices in bottom of a greased 9-inch pie pan. Sprinkle with flour, orange peel and cinnamon; drizzle evenly with honey. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix well. In a small bowl, combine honey, egg, butter and orange juice; mix well. Add to flour mixture, stirring until just blended. Spread mixture evenly over pears. Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until browned. Let cool 5 minutes on wire rack; invert onto platter. Serve warm. Note: For kosher kitchen, always use certified kosher products.
