GERMAN CHOCOLATE CRINKLE COOKIES   

      1 pkg. pudding included German chocolate cake mix
      1/2 c. instant mashed potato flakes
      1 tsp. cream of tartar
      1 tsp. cinnamon
      3/4 c. butter (melted)
      3 tbsp. milk
      1 egg
      1/2 c. chopped nuts
      1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar

      Combine all ingredients except nuts and sugar. Blend well. Stir in nuts. 
Let stand 5 minutes. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into sugar. Gently toss until 
sugar-coated. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 
degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. If desired, frost cookies.

      FROSTING:

      1 c. powdered sugar
      2 tsp. cocoa
      1 tbsp. soft butter
      1 to 2 tbsp. milk

      Combine and blend until smooth. Spread on cooled cookies. Makes 4 to 5 
dozen cookies.
