Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood lead the list of nominees in the country categories of the 2008 American Music Awards. Awards show host Jimmy Kimmel joined Julianne Hough and Jesse McCartney to announce the nominees Tuesday (Oct. 14) in Los Angeles. Brooks, Underwood and Rascal Flatts were respectively nominated for favorite male country artist, female country artist and country band, duo or group. Additionally, favorite country album nominations went to Brooks' The Ultimate Hits, Underwood's Carnival Ride and Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good. Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney are also nominated in the male country artist category, and Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are up for female country artist. Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland join Rascal Flatts in the band, duo or group division. Kid Rock is nominated for favorite male artist in the pop/rock field. The Eagles are nominated for overall artist of the year and received three other nominations in the pop/rock and adult contemporary categories. Fan voting is underway at the American Music Awards Web site, www.amavote.com, and the winners will be announced Nov. 23 during ABC's live broadcast of the awards show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Marty Stuart Exhibit Heads to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Tue. October 14.2008 5:31 PM EDT Following a similar exhibit in Nashville, Sparkle & Twang: Marty Stuart's American Musical Odyssey will make its way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. Assembled from Stuart's personal collection of memorabilia, the exhibit covers four decades of rock, country, rockabilly, bluegrass, rhythm & blues and gospel music. It includes 300 items, including musical instruments, stage clothing, handwritten lyrics and photographs. Among them are Hank Williams' handwritten lyrics "Cold, Cold Heart" and "Your Cheatin' Heart." Sparkle and Twang opens Oct. 30 and runs through March 1. Stuart debuted the exhibit at the Tennessee State Museum in 2007. Tracy Lawrence Performing at Inspirational Country Music Awards Mon. October 13.2008 6:30 PM EDT Tracy Lawrence and former American Idol finalist Phil Stacey will perform during the 14th annual Inspirational Country Music Awards taking place Thursday (Oct. 16) at Trinity Music City USA Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tenn. The awards will be presented in more than a dozen categories. This year's nominees for mainstream country artist are Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Josh Turner, Randy Travis and Ricky Skaggs & the Whites. Lawrence's "Til I Was a Daddy Too" is nominated for video of the year in a category that also includes Alan Jackson's "Small Town Southern Man," Underwood's "So Small" and T. Jae Christian's "This Is Where Jesus Would Go." Collin Raye will host the awards show. Lawrence, Andy Griggs, Buddy Jewell, Billy Dean and Dan Tyminski are among this year's presenters.
