Baked Apple with Vanilla Sauce Ingredients: 3 1 tsp 40 g / 1 1/3 oz 90 g / 3 oz 20 g / 2/3 oz 1 pk 1/4 l / 1 cup 100 g / 3 1/3 oz 1 apple lemon juice hazelnuts, chopped red currant jelly butter, unsalted instant vanilla sauce milk mascarpone cheese vanilla bean Serves 3 - 498 cal per serving Prep-time: 10 min. - Total-time: 45 min. It's best to use tart, crisp cooking apples for making baked apples. For the Vanilla Sauce use an instant sauce, which does not require cooking. If you can't get vanilla sauce, use instant vanilla pudding instead and just double the amount of milk for the whole package or use half of the package with the amount recommended on package directions. Wash and dry the apples, than thoroughly remove the core using a core cutter. Drizzle the inside of the apples with lemon juice. Put the apples in a greased baking dish. For the filling mix chopped hazelnuts with current jelly and stuff the apples. Put a small piece of butter (unsalted) on top of each apple. Pre-heat the oven to 355 F Bake the apples on the middle rung for about 40 minutes until the apple skin bursts slightly open. Meanwhile mix the vanilla sauce powder with 1 cup of milk. Stir in the mascarpone cheese until smooth. Cut the vanilla bean open lengthwise using a small sharp knife. Scratch out the pulp and stir in the vanilla sauce. Pour the vanilla sauce on a plate and place the baked apples on top.
