FILLED JAR - PLAIN COOKIES
   1 egg
   1 cup sugar
   1/2 cups shortening
   1/2 cups milk or cream
   1 teaspoon vanilla
   1 teaspoon lemon extract
   1 teaspoon baking soda
   3 1/2 cups flour
   1/2 teaspoons salt
   2 teaspoons baking powder
Filling:
   1 cup chopped raisins
   1 teaspoon flour
   1/2 cups chopped nuts
   1/2 cups sugar
   1/2 cups water
    For plain cookies:
   Cream shortening and sugar, add salt, well beaten egg, milk, flavoring and 
flour
sifted with baking powder and soda. Mix, having dough rather soft. Roll to 
medium
thickness for plain cookies and do not over bake. For filled cookies: Roll very 
thin
and spread filling between two cookies and press edges together. Filling: Mix 
sugar
and flour in saucepan; add raisins, nuts and water. Cook until thick. Let cool 
before
using.
