According to the SMH this morning, Ruddock reneged on the meeting at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy with the most stupid excuse about the media being there. No doubt he is following orders from 'His Master's Voice'. Trudy Ruddock postpones meeting at Tent Embassy Monday 15 February, 1999 (8:31am AEDT) Planned talks between the Federal Minister for Reconciliation, Philip Ruddock, and Tent Embassy officials have been called off. A spokesman for the Tent Embassy had said Mr Ruddock would be visiting the Tent Embassy outside Old Parliament House this morning. But the meeting has now been postponed after Mr Ruddock expressed concern that the media would also be attending. The group is still asking for the Prime Minister, John Howard, to come down and talk to them.
