SYDNEY lost one of its institutions yesterday. Sid "Doc" Cunningham, known as
the Black Santa for his efforts over more than two
decades to collect Christmas gifts for underprivileged Aboriginal children, died
in Balmain Hospital after a long illness. Sid, who was 72,
is survived by his wife, Judith, four children, five grandchildren and thousands
of grateful recipients of his tireless dollops of Christmas
cheer.
