>From the Kookaburra column in the SMH: For more than a decade Greens senator Bob Brown and Robert Bain, the former executive director of the National Association of Forest Industries, the woodchippers' lobby group, have pursued contradictory interests. One was devoted to trying to preserve forests untouched, the other to trying to chop 'em down. But now, one combatant has moved on. The Australian Medical Association this week announced that Bain had been appointed as its secretary-general. (Heaven knows why, he's a PhD, not a medical doctor, and his back ground is in primary industry.) Brown greeted the news with a press release, suggesting among other nasty things, that Bain would bring a "chainsaw mentality to medical politics". That night Brown's press secretary was at dinner when his mobile went off. It was a woman, who launched into a tirade of abuse, but refused to identify herself. But he had caller ID on his phone and, you guessed it, the call came from Bain's mobile. ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
