The Alice Springs NT claim decision (which has been partially successfull -
Olney has found that Native title exists over the majority of areas claimed
, but that Native Title rights do not amount to exclusive possession).
Important elements include:
rejection of the view that Northern Territory pastoral leases extinguish
native title
a view that some title to some areas was extinguished as a result of the
Harradine / Howard amendments to the Native Title legislation.
