The Inquest is to inquire into the death of Winnie Michael, aged 18 years, who died on 9 Jan 1998 of complications arising from undiagnosed appendicitis. The Michael family hopes that the Coroner will, again, closely scrutinise the shortcomings within the prison health services, which they feel contributed to the untimely death of their daughter. The Michael family call on all media, and groups or organisations with an interest in the conduct, delivery, and ethics of prison health service delivery, to attend and report on this examination of the premature death of a young mother.
