'He should be charged for inciting a riot and given mandatory sentencing: life,' Mr Ruxton said. Mr Perkins had predicted 'very violent' protests at the Sydney Olympics, after the federal government had played down the extent of the stolen generation of indigenous children. Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Herron had said that 'no more than 10 per cent' of children were removed from families and, therefore, they did not constitute a generation. Mr Perkins, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commissioner for Sydney, told BBC radio that the situation had 'turned very nasty - ugly'. 'If you want to see burning cars and burning buildings, then come over, enjoy yourself,' Mr Perkins said. Mr Ruxton said Mr Perkins should be charged and jailed for making 'inflammatory remarks'. The remarks had severely damaged the reconciliation process and 'put back his cause by a century'. 'He talks about burning buildings - I hope his $2 million home in Sydney is the first to go,' he said. 'It should be burned to the ground with him in it.' Mr Ruxton also questioned Mr Perkins' status as an Aboriginal and his right to speak for indigenous people. 'The leaders of the Aboriginal community should take him to task and advise people that he does not speak in an official capacity,' Mr Ruxton said. 'Is he Aboriginal, by the way? I don't think he is - he's got more white and Afghan in him.' Mr Ruxton also denied that Aboriginal children were 'stolen', saying instead were taken away for their own good.
