Maybe we should get involved in this, offering a lead to Stolen
Generations? Point out that it's plural for a start, because the press
is
still using singular. And maybe this Diana needs vetting?
The Aboriginal iron is hot in the European media. We should be striking
it.
Give me an idea how you're distributing what we have to say to the
media,
and who does it, so I can feed to whoever that is from this end.
Handelsblatt, the major German business daily, had a pretty big report
on 13 Apr headlined "Conflicts with Aborigines tarnish Australia's
multicultural image shortly before the summer games - 2000 Olympics in
the shadow of the past", datelined Sydney, by Peter Zeidlitz.
Financial Times (London), 10 Apr, "Canberra seeks softer line on state's
mandatory jail laws", by Virginia Marsh in Sydney. Uses "generation"
instead of plural. Uses aboriginal and aborigines (lower case)
throughout. Someone politely point out to her that she wouldn't like
british (lower case)instead of British, either. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Frankfurter Allgemeine, Germany's most prestigious daily, 5 Apr, "Cathy
Freeman also stuck in a dilemma - why the Aborigines continue to
threaten
demonstrations in Sydney", (same paper had a report 2 days previously),
no
author named.
Neue Z�rcher Zeitung, Switzerland's most prestigious daily and one of
the world's best, "Australia on the warpath with the UN," out of Sydney,
much emphasis to CERD, "Australia heavily attacked by American lawyer,
Gay McDougall," very long, very good report. No author listed.
Frankfurter Allgemeine, see above, 3 Apr, "Shaky stadiums, angry
Aborigines - No end to protests in Sydney, algae brake canooists," by
Michael Ashelm, not listed, but the paper is: Behrsing Boris,
Frankfurter
Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany.
International Herald Tribune, major international daily based in Paris,
"Aborigines Debate Politics of Olympics - Freeman Focuses on 400 meters,
not race", by Christopher Clarey.
Frankfurter Allgemeine, "Does Australia violate human rights?", only
correct reference to Aboriginal population of 430,000, by Erhard
Haubold, reporting from New Delhi.
Financial Times, 31 March, Virginia Marsh (see above), "Canberra slams

report on aborigines" (lower case again)
