I agree with you, Trudy. But that is because his words are constantly
mis-represented (as is that of Marx, Jesus, Charles Perkins and any number
of other people). But that doesn't mean they shouldn't say things, or that
they should carefully try to anticipate any misuses that their words will be
used for. That's impossible. And it's ultimately self-defeating. So
sometimes you just have to say things you think are right and damn the
torpedoes! If everybody hesitated or felt the need to couch their comments
because there was a chance that Howard and his pack would misuse them, then
pretty soon no-one would say anything.
The fact is, the likes of Howard will ALWAYS misuse whatever they can. If
we're second-guessing everything we say bc little Johnny might twist it
around, then he's already won. HE"S ALREADY WON (not shouting,
emphasising). It's part of the power-game they play and thrive on - the
threat that "anything you say will be taken down and used in evidence
against you and we can make it sound like you said anything we want". We
shouldn't fall for it. NEVER EVER. The trick is not to be fooled by that
and keep an eye on who the real enemy is - and I reckon it ain't Pearson.
