There is access to sound spectrum ( for playing sounds )
But there is no access to the raw microphone data.
So unless that changes, we cant play at using our own codecs.

NellyMoser Bastards!

So when it's possible to solve it in Flash 9, we have to try it.

I've never tried, but will be cool to make some demo.

Just think:

1)       When you get raw data from mic, you have to lossless compress them (LZW, etc)

2)       Inject this data into DATA NetStream

3)       That's all, when the other side get this data, you decompress them and make them sound (don't know actually how J )?

It that all right?

Is that tryable with AS3 now?

Hi Tom,

Lots of people have tried, they dont reply or answer calls.
Just do a search on the flashcomm list archives to see some history.
As far as Im aware its a dead end. :(

I think we should all request access to raw audio data from mic in flash 9.
Then we can do our own encoding in open source friendly formats like speex.

HI,

I've wrote to NellyMoser about licensing a transcoder from FLV (or RTMP stream) to MP3 or some buffer and no answer.

Does anyboady tried?

This I really need. It's so sticky, that we don't have this little but sooo important thing!
