Just to mention a small bug in the debian start/stop script:

The start-stop-daemon doesn't delete the pid-file, since the deamon itself is 
responsible for this. If the deamon is run subsequently, it will fail to 
start. After adding:
rm -f $PIDFILE
to the d_stop() routine, all is well.
