If you ask me personally, then, yes. There's a need. Java is a way too
complicated in many areas and you can do the same faster and easier with
Ruby. If you don't believe me just try to learn a bit of Ruby and create
a simple networking app, you'll make it in one day.

Otherwise I didn't even mention it. I don't think that the whole world
should be re-written in Ruby.

Well, many.NET apps come after Java as ports where authors took mistakes
of original into account. Anyway I have no doubt that we'll see a .NET
version in C# in several months after Red5 1.0 release.
