Have you tested version .5 on Windows too? Similar performance improvement
over Linux?

Subject: [Red5] red5 on linux - bad performance

So.. I've tested red5 4.1 on a fresh install of Fedora Core 5. on a personal
20mbit dedicated server that has 2 gigs of ram and a 50 ms average ping.

Even with the jvm process niced to utmost priority and generous amounts of
-Xms, the webcam streaming was alot jerkier compared to my Windows server, with
even just one webcam. It got worse with each additional webcam. On my Windows
box this doesn't happen.

Apparently there's alot of back buffering going on, because when I let it run
for awhile with 3-4 webcams then disconnected them all, the server is still
streaming whats remaining in the buffer long after I've disconnected. My chat
text appears much later as well.

I am wondering if anyone has tips or experience with getting better performance
in Linux?
