well, that seemed to help alot Paul!

it took me a bit to figure out why / how setting that buffer would help, but I realized that when I was recording, I was also playing an FLV localy - the localy playing flv was what was gliching while I was recording.

I realized it when I was watching the stream recording back.  I had thought it was apart of the recording, then I realized it was gliching in different spots ;)

so, setting the buffer to 10seconds seems to keep it nice and steady ;)

Thanks Paul!

alrighty, i'll check into playing with the buffer on the client side.

I gotta admit though, I seriously doubt it's a flaw that still exists.  yeah in FCS1.0 days, I could see that, but I couldn't see that being acceptable to sony, google, youtube.com etc - I've had a fair amount of experience as well, and I wouldn't call it something I've come to expect from doing FCS work.

not tryin' to knock your friend Paul, i'm just saying what I think ;)  I'll still play around with client buffers, but with Recording, I don't see how setting the NetStream buffer is going to help.  Obviously with VOD it's a major peice of the puzzle, but with recording, I don't know that it plays a role.  Does anyone know?

I asked a friend of mine that has done quite a bit of Flash development with live streaming systems and he says this is a well known flaw in FCS and flash player implementations. I think that you may want to dig into the buffering system on the server and / or player (player first) to track a possible solution down.

I'm in the same situation.  We don't see it at all with a video on
demand playback (the demo flv's), only with a live publisher.
