You mean using CakePHP + Red5? Sounds cool!
And yes, if I think better, Red5 is actually a key piece on extreme-multimedia applications but is a not a CRUD framework... I think that is what you meant by saying they're different things?

Actually, Rails like MVC frameworks have nothing to deal with Red5
applications which are a bit different. So I don't see actual need to
merge our API with GRails or anything else. If you need a database
access and know nothing about Hibernate, or just like ActiveRecord more
(I really do) socket bridge would be a nice solution.
