What are the steps you did? This should work:

1. Download the tarball and unpack it
2. Change into the new directory and type: ant
3. The compilation will take a minute and when it's done type: ant server (or type: ./red5.sh)

There's a ticket for the missing debian package on http:// jira.red5.org/browse/INSTALL-6

Hi :-)
Why is this link empty?

http://dl.fancycode.com/red5/debian/0.6rc2/

I'd like to install red5 0.6rc2 on debian, so I've dowloaded the tarball archive..... but it's all the evening that I'm trying to install it but it doesn't work and I don't understand why.

I've installed java, jdk, ant....

I've always this error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFounError: org/red5/ server/StandAlone

help? :-)

Regards,
Daniela Remogna
